Bush’s Speech

I thought it was good, overall. President Bush didn’t really say anything new other than his pledge to send 6,000 troops to the border (personally, I’d like to see more, but I’ll take what I can get), but I pretty much agree with his plan: secure borders, guest worker program, and earned citizenship. It won’t satisfy the Michelle Malkins, Tom Tancredos or La Razas of the world, but who cares? Most Americans fall between these two extremes, and I think they can accept Bush’s view. Whether or not the President’s poll numbers will surge remains to be seen, but at least he’s doing the right thing. That’s more than I can say for many of the partisan demagogues out there.
