Headliners - June 2001

June 3, 2001:

Well, my boring life continues to move forward. I've been feeling kind of down the last few days for some reason. I'm not really sure why, maybe it's the uncertain future ahead of me. I watched Forest Gump last night, and now I'm feeling some better. Nothing like that movie to cheer someone up. My Canadian trip is kind of stalling, but I am pretty sure it will happen.

Speaking of summer, I feel that it is officially here now. Yeah, I know it technically doesn't start until around June 21, but it's now June, and really feels like summer. For the first time in three years, I don't have a job over the summer, and will not work. It'll be nice to kick back. Speaking of summer, I have now added a quizlet to this site, and the first question deals with summer. Be sure to take a look.

Other than that, I really haven't made many updates lately. I went on a binge this week and downloaded ICQ, MSN Messenger Service, and Yahoo! Instant Messanger. If you are using any of these and want to contact me, visit my Contacting me page, except for ICQ, which I am still ironing out some bugs on. It'll be ready soon though.

I guess that just about covers it for this update. I hope everyone is having a great summer. Remember to answer my quizlet!

June 10, 2001:

It's hard to believe that it's been a month since I graduated from RSCC. Life as a college graduate (kind of) has been pretty nice. In just a little over two months I'll be taking another huge step: heading off to Cumberland University. Yeah, I'm sure most of you knew that, but hey, it's a major milestone. Here's hoping it will be as much fun as RSCC.

I finally got some tourism information for my Canadian trip. Right now I'm trying to find fun stuff to do in Michigan (Detroit, Sault Ste. Marie, and basically anywhere near I-75). I'm sure there's not shortage of good things, but trying to find stuff on the internet has been difficult at best. Hopefully I'll find something good soon though. Actually, if anyone out there can recommend some stuff, let me know.

I am currently feuding with America Online. Okay, basically I had the address to this site on my member profile, and for some stupid reason that was a violation of their Terms Of Service (TOS). Why, I have no clue, though I suspect it might have something to do with the fact I'm now using Tripod, instead of Hometown AOL (which is kind of hard to do, since only their beginners mode is compatible with Macintosh). I have sent them two e-mails asking how this violates their TOS, but I have yet to receive a response. Great service. Why do I keep AOL? Good question... I've been asking myself that a lot lately.

Anyways, getting away from my tangents, I got some pretty nice photos at Roane County Park a couple of days ago. Click here to view them. I'm also planning to do a Newhart area too, which would work well with my eventual 80s site that's a long term goal.

I guess that does it for this week. I would like to wish my parents a happy anniversary (June 7). Have a great week, and send me some feedback!

As of this week, I can prove that Roane State actually gave me a diploma! Well, sort of... Some of the words are cut off on the edge (if you look really closely, you can see them), and I'm supposed to get a better one soon. But hey, now it's official. So, it's only an associate's degree? Eventually I'll graduate for good from Cumberland (or I might stay in school and get my doctoral degree, like my mom. That would probably take me approximately 55 years!). Speaking of CU, I'm still waiting for my transfer evaluation. I guess maybe I'm impatient, but I just want to be able to make a schedule. Plus, I want to know about my housing. Patience is a virtue, one I don't have much of when it comes to waiting :-)

I (sort of) resolved my feud with AOL. It appears it's considered advertising to have this site's address on my profile, which smack's of hypocrisy to me, seeings how who plenty of other people have URLs on theirs, and AOL doesn't say a word. Plus, how is this advertising, since I'm not selling anything, or even making any money whatsoever on this site? But I guess that's AOL for you..

Well, I'm going on another tangent here, so I'll change the subject. I went around my hometown and Roane County and took some pictures of the landmarks. If you want to see them, just click here. Maybe they'll remind me of home in the fall when I leave for Lebanon. I also went to Livingston and Byrdstown, TN to see some cemeteries. Eventually, I plan to get all my genealogical information online. In the mean time you can view the scenery in Overton, Fentress, and Pickett Counties by clicking here.

I suppose that does it for now. I'd like to wish my buddies Lisa and Chris a happy birthday (this week). Everyone have a happy Father's Day!

I got my actual diploma this week! Aren't I just neato-keen? I also now have my own domain. Yes, that's right, soon this site will be moving to a new location, namely! I'm still working the bugs out in this, so I have no idea when it will "officially" open. Maybe in a week or so though. It will be really cool to have my own domain, without the annoying pop-up add. Don't get me wrong, Tripod has been great and easy to use, and I would recomend them.. But nothing can compare to having my own domain.

In Roane County there has been a huge debate over the "Blue Route", so I took it upon myself to write an article on it, and give my two cents. There's also a good chance it will appear in the Roane County News. If you would like to read it, click here.

I'm STILL waiting on my transfer evaluation from CU. How much longer is it going to take? Hopefully it will be worth the wait. I'm hoping my newspaper credits will go for Litt, but I'm sure I'm dreaming here. But you never know!

Nothing really happened this week, other than I made a trip up to Knoxville and got to see a friend of mine's new house. It was pretty nice.

Well I need to run now. Check back soon for the official move!
